We believe providing patients and their families with the information they need to make appropriate decisions can help alleviate fear, anxiety and confusion.
Before treatments begin, our patients and their families are provided with an individualized teaching session by an oncology nurse.
Sessions are in a calm, private setting in each clinic.
The sessions are designed to answer questions as well as provide resources and written information that can be reviewed at home when it is convenient.
The nurses can be reached by telephone or can schedule a second appointment to answer any additional questions patients may have as they prepare to begin treatment.
"If I had one piece of advice for someone going through cancer treatment, I would tell them, 'Get as much information as you can.' Being informed makes you feel more in control...more prepared, and less anxious." A Cancer Survivor |
